History of Rotary

Founded by Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905, four business associates met for lunch at their respective business (rotating) locations (thus Rotary) to assist each other in their businesses.  They subsequently engaged in planned service to their community.

What We Do

Our club includes regular meetings as well as fun and fellowship activities.  We hold several fundraisers each year to support our service projects.  These have included an Oktoberfest and an antiques auction.

Local Community Development

Deep River Rotary is instrumental in developing the overlook at the Deep River Landing, Keyboard Pond Park and gazebo and the Elephant located at the Town Hall which represents our town’s history.

Internationally

We support water, health, education and agricultural projects around the world.  With Chester and Essex Clubs, we support sister city projects in Haiti.  Rotary has been a world leader in the effort to eradicate polio through the Polio Plus efforts of the Rotary Foundation.
